I recently put a half a pig in the freezer and the farmer friend I got it from was apologizing because it was more expensive than pork in the grocery store. But it's worth a lot to me to get my meat from someone who raises a small herd of pigs on pasture. The National Catholic Rural Life Conference has some good material on sustainable farming on their website (ncrlc.com).
